All of the colors are easy to use and the best part is none of the shadows have chunky glitter in them. I hate those shadows that Urban Decay makes with the chunky glitter, I spend days getting it off of my face. And I spend the day looking like a disco ball. But here is the pallet. My fave color in the pallet is underground but many others come in a close second. Here is a look today I made with Fishnet on the lid, Ransom over it, Zero in the outer corner and Scratch in the crease. I also lined with Urban Decay's Rockstar liner on the top and on the waterline. I used mascara on the top and bottom lashes as well, Clinique High Impact mascara.

I find the best way to apply Urban Decay shadows for me is with my finger. They blend out much easier that way then using a brush. And I used MAC Paint Pot in Painterly for a primer. Love that primer.Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-22329457459552318472010-02-05T18:11:00.000-08:002010-02-05T18:31:50.326-08:00Ahhhh the holidaysHow they always take us away from routine and make our lives crazy! That and the worst January in a long time was bestowed upon my husband and I. But we toasted to the end of January on the 31st and we are pretending that 2010 started on Feb 1st. So things are looking up. Anyway, this blog has been neglected, but trust me ladies I have purchased lots of makeup and have lots to talk about. Here is a quick look I made with the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Volume II:

I used Misdemeanor on the lid, Sell Out in the crease and Mushroom in the outer corner of the lid. I also lined with Urban Decays Gunmetal 24/7 liner on the top and bottom. On the bottom I put Misdemeanor over it for a smokey look. It was very different then what I usually wear but I liked it.

Oh and ladies I got a new do! My hair was about 5 inches longer then thing, hung on my head like it was limp and well I hated it. Now I love my hair! Check it out:

http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss325/sunshinegal79/Hair/newhair3.jpg

http://i588.photobucket.com/albums/ss325/sunshinegal79/Hair/hair5.jpg

Well I have lots to talk about but I will save it for future posts. Ta-ta for now!Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-76930321170297578882009-12-07T17:48:00.001-08:002010-02-05T19:26:24.863-08:00My Silk Naturals look todayI am so loving Silk Naturals. The colors are so complex even when they look like plain ole neutrals. I recently got Tailfeathers in my SN order (you can see pics of it a few posts back) and decided to try it out. The look I did was easy and a two step process, I wanted to find something that I could do quickly for those days I don't want to think about a look. So I have Tailfeathers all over my lid and in the crease, Everyday Minerals Pearl Beige on the brow bone and SN Blackheart as the liner.

Tailfeathers is a gold color with a little bit of shimmer. Tomorrow I am going to try it with a darker brown in the crease and see how that is for a bit of a more complex look.

And I just placed another order with SN last night, it already shipped out! Here is what I ordered:

1 x Fete- coppery shimmer
1 x Sample Vegan Tempt Tryst
1 x Sonic- light golden copper- MAC Vanilla clone
1 x Smooth and Full- Black Label Lip Treatment
1 x Eye Lash Conditioning Gel
1 x Sample Vegan Date Bait
1 x Brown Sugar & Vanilla Lip Scrub
1 x Chills -pale shimmery pink

I picked Sprite as my free shadow since my order was over $30. I should have this on Wednesday, so exciting!Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-26625959409957422142009-12-07T17:35:00.001-08:002010-02-05T19:28:53.268-08:00December Clinique orderSo Clinique was having a 10 days of Christmas giveaway where each day you got new freebies when you placed an order. The first day had the best items up for offer so I had to quickly get an order in. I think this is still going on: http://www.clinique.com/cms/landing/10days.tmpl

So anyway I got my order today and so far I am happy with everything. First pic is the cute free bag:

Inside of that bag was the following:

(flash)

(no flash)

There was also a freebie mascara that I forgot to take a pic of. You can see it if you click on the 1st day on the Clinique calendar in the above link.

Here are the items I ordered along with the freebie lipstick:

From left to right: Buttershine Lipstick in Bamboo Pink, Vitamin C Lip Smoothie in Rhubarbie, Superfine liner for brows in soft brown and High Impact Lipstick in Plum Nude

Swatches from top to bottom: Vitamin C Lip Smoothie in Rhubarbie, High Impact Lipstick in Plum Nude, Buttershine Lipstick in Bamboo Pink and Superfine liner for brows in soft brown

(no flash)

I was really interested in trying out the Vitamin C Lip Smoothie today because it has such mixed reviews on Clinque's site. Well I love this color, it is very moisturizing and lasted about 3 hours on my lips which is unheard of! I have super dry lips and typically my lips are so dry after I wear most lip colors. Not this lipstick, it didn't dry out my lips afterward! And this lip stick is really a mix of lip stick and a lip gloss. It has the pigment of a lip stick but the sheen of a lip gloss and the lasting power of a lip product I have never had before. I am super happy with this order so far, even if this lippie is the only good thing I ordered I will be happy. The reason being is I found the perfect mix of a lip stick and gloss that actually lasts on my lips and doesn't dry them out! YAY!

I do have to also mention that the Buttershine lipstick felt super smooth and moisturizing on my wrist so I have no doubts it will be great on. The eyebrow pencil also went on very smoothly and it is super fine so you can fill in your eyebrows without it looking too obvious. I plan on using both of these tomorrow so I will have an update then.Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-36127412770375767182009-12-05T11:42:00.000-08:002010-02-05T19:30:07.926-08:00Silk Naturals Rocker LookSo I used the Silk Naturals BE Rocker Clone kit today and I am a bit up in the air about it. I plan on going to Sephora and checking out the BE 1980's eye color to see if it is close to the SN Slick color. I watched a few vids of looks people made with this kit and I had a hard time making mine look anything like theirs because I don't think the color is the same. But anyway, here is the look I made:

Slick all over the lid. Rebel in the outer corner and Blackheart lined all the way around my eye.

Natural Light

Flash

I can never take really good pics, I need to figure my camera out for better pics. But I am going to keep experimenting and seeing what I can do with these colors. They are all gorgeous although I had a hard time using Rebel. It would spread and just look dirty on me rather then smokey. Slick is a good neutral color to go with anything and Blackheart is nice but a little difficult to work with. The brush that came with the kit was a bit scratchy but not as scratchy as BE brushes are. So far I would rate this kit as ok with hopes of finding a better way of using these colors.Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-40491343732902335772009-12-04T15:50:00.001-08:002010-02-05T19:32:22.093-08:00My Silk Naturals orderHere is my new Silk Naturals (SN) items, they are so lovely. For those of you that are not familiar with Silk Naturals you can find the site here: http://www.silknaturals.com/creb/
and they have a forum as well: http://www.silknaturals.com/forum/index.php
They have amazing products (complex shadows, wonderful lip glosses and lip sticks and I hear their foundation is amazing) and they have amazing bonuses for their customers as well! For every dollar you spend you earn a point. At 100 points you earn a $5 credit towards an order. For every $10 and over order you get a free limited edition shadow. Now that is generous! But it gets even better, for every $30 you spend in a single order you get a free full sized shadow, your choice or they can surprise you! So if you spend $60 in an order, you can pick two free shadows and the limited edition shadow and 60 points! Karen, the owner of SN, is very involved with her customers. She answers questions on her forums, she has games on her blog, she dupes her customers favorite products if they send her a bit of it and she started a new raffle! Each order has a raffle ticket in it where you can win more prizes. I feel like SN was once what Everyday Minerals (EDM) used to be, but 10 times better because their products are so unique and not some mix of each other. And there is no fake feeling like I used to get by EDM. Anyway, on to the pictures!

I ordered the dupe that SN has of the Bare Escentuals Rocker kit that I coveted for so long and I am quite impressed. As my freebie I got Tailfeather which is just simply gorgeous. Here is a pic with the names shown:

Here is pic with the colors in the exact same place, just flipped upside down:

Tailfeathers (the freebie):

Upside down Tailfeathers:

Swatches!
Left to right: Tailfeather, Blackheart, Rebel, Slick:

Top to Bottom: Slick, Rebel, Blackheart, Tailfeather:

Entire order with the raffle ticket:

I am going to wear this kit tomorrow and will take pics.

I have yet to be disappointed in a SN items. I will have more SN posts to come with the lip products I have, other shadows and samples I have and some of their skin care items. The Vitamin C serum is so nice! So is the Green Tea & Aloe Hydrating Serum. I want to try more of their skin care and their nice chap sticks that they just came out with for the holidays.Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-41900298957110438442009-12-03T15:33:00.000-08:002010-02-05T19:35:04.526-08:00Followup reviewsSo I used most of the products I ordered from Sephora today but no pics yet as I was not feeling so hot today (no sleep and a sore throat). I barely got to work this morning with makeup on so I will post initial thoughts and then post pics when I take them.

So the surprise of this order was a free sample I received. It is a Sephora face primer:
http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml%3B$sessionid$OF0U1LU1FWDWICV0KQLQX0Q;jsessionid=OF0U1LU1FWDWICV0KQLQX0Q?id=P37619&categoryId=A47

This is a gel and a little bit goes a LONG way. I was shocked when I put this on as it made my skin so smooth and my makeup went on so nicely. My pores looked smaller and my fine lines were filled in (might I just say turning 30 is harsh....fine lines start popping up under the eyes like crazy!). My foundation looked so flawless today, I am actually considering ordering a large of this. I have enough to try this out again tomorrow, I am going to try it again but with my liquid foundation and see how that goes.

So I used Lucky Penny and Chocolate chip from this pallet today (two on the far right side):

I LOVE Lucky Penny. It is simply gorgeous, natural with a shimmery kick and probably one of my fave shadows of all time. I used Chocolate Chip in the outer corner and liked it, a tiny bit goes a long way with that color. I think it will make a gorgeous liner as well as probably matches my brows so I can use it as a brow powder. Talk about your multitasking product!

Anastasia Brow Powder sample:

I used this today and wasn't too impressed. Maybe I didn't use it right because I was tired and did a half assed job...or maybe powders just aren't for me. I find brow pencils work so much better for me but I will try this again tomorrow just so I don't judge it unfairly. I used my eco tools liner brush which is way too stiff for eye use and put the powder on with that. I could tell I filled them in, but I think it wore out as the day went on. Will keep you posted on this product as I use it more. The cool thing with the sample is there are plenty of uses for each color so I will be able to adequately test this product.

These polishes are amazing!

I used A True Romantic on my finger nails. I hate color on my finger nails. I sit behind a computer all day typing so I lose color quickly on my finger nails. This went on a slight pinkish tinge but mostly clear, really pretty. It is like a clear with a nice twist, not as boring as clear.
I used Metro Chic on my toe nails and it is beautiful! Two coats and it was the exact color in the jar so I am happy about that. No top coat is usually needed for these polishes and they last all week on my toes, that is how quality they are.

Now for the Orgasm blush:

I think i used the wrong brush to apply with. It came off really dark in certain spots and well I just attribute that to the crappy EDM brush I was using. I am going to use my Eco Tools powder brush tomorrow to try it out so I am sure it will go on better. But I will say that the spots that I had on my face were quite gorgeous and this blush gives a nice glow to your face. I can tell this blush and I are going to be best friends! And now that I know this I am coveting NARS Deep Throat blush as well. It is out of stock at Sephora and they sent me a free $15 to spend with them. Such a shame, I will have to order other things. :D

Now for another star that I am absolutely in love with. My Benefit Erase Paste!

Wow, is this concealer SO smooth and creamy, it spreads like a dream and covers like a champ. Typically with mineral concealer I have to put it on over my foundation and I didn't think to put this on first this morning. So I went through my routine, putting on my primer, foundation, finishing powder and then concealer. When I put it on I was like whoops! This should have gone on first since it won't budge once it is on. Mineral concealers just leave their spots on your face if you put them on first. Not the case with this concealer! A tiny (and I mean tiny as in barely can see smidgen on my finger tip) will cover my under eye circles and the two spots I have broken capillaries at. This product will last for months at least, if not a year. Well worth the money. Fair matches me perfectly and I wouldn't say I am all that fair. I have heavy yellow undertones and would consider myself light to medium being more on the light side. So this is definitely not a true fair product for all of you really white gals out there.

So far I am extremely happy with my order. And since I have a free $15 to spend with Sephora I am now contemplating what to try. So many products, so little face space.Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-40962406004269229942009-12-02T15:08:00.000-08:002010-02-05T19:38:22.508-08:00Sephora Order and Swap Items GaloreSo I have been putting in last orders (sort of like a last supper of sorts) before the new year rolls around and my hubby and I start saving everything we have for a house. This post will just say what I ordered and show you pics. I will review them soon for you all!

So I received this Clinique shadow pallet that looks simply amazing. The colors from left to right are Mochaberry duo light shade, disco pink (looks like an amazing blush color), Lucky Penny and Chocolate Chip:

Next is my amazing Sephora order. I decided to splurge since I have just recently swapped or sold half of my makeup collection (No longer supporting Everyday Minerals so I wanted to get rid of what I don't use which was quite a lot...more on that in future posts) and I decided to go with having less makeup but more quality items. Here goes!

Ladies and Gents, I present the one, the only, the most amazing talked about blush in the history of the world (insert drum roll here)...

Sneak Peek:

Any guesses yet? I am sure you have it figured out. If not try one more guess...I'll wait!

......

.......

NARS Orgasm blush! Ta-da:

It looks so dang pretty. I can't wait to try it out tomorrow.

Next on the list is to replace my current concealers. I have heard amazing things about this product. Benefit Erase Paste! I picked it in fair since I heard it wasn't as fair as they say it is. I think it will match me perfectly.

Cute little box:

Spatula, how to instructions and product:

Looks promising:

So can't wait to try this out under my eyes tomorrow and on my broken capillary spots. This will be a good test of this product.

Next on the list is my most favorite polish company, a set that was a fantastic deal with some fantastic looking colors ($18!). From left to Right: True Romantic, Domestic Goddess, Metro Chic

And I ordered Opening Night for my step daughter as a stocking stuffer. She is kinda in the black nail polish emo phase going on, I figure a dark navy blue would be appropriatefor her. I almost want to keep this color for myself, would make an awesome toe nail polish:

And then on top of the 3 free samples I received I got a clutch with 8 more free samples for nothing! What a deal.

All of the samples:

I will be back with reviews but so far I am very happy with what I ordered.Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-69737317544517488782009-11-17T17:57:00.000-08:002009-11-17T18:06:26.782-08:00My how time flies!Wow, I cannot believe how fast time goes by. My last post was in July and now we are in mid November and Christmas is around the corner! And speaking of that, I just about finished my Christmas shopping up this weekend. YAY me!

So I am still addicted to makeup and have just a ton more then I used to have. My latest purchase is a new holiday set from MAC Cosmetics: http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/spp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT1910&PRODUCT_ID=6738

Here are my pics of my purchase and a look I created with some of the colors:

MAC Paint Pot in blackground. I have used this on my arm but not on my eyelids yet. I did notice it is harder to remove then Painterly is, could be because it was on thicker on my arm then I usually put on my eyelids. Anyway here is a pic:

It goes on as light or as dark as you want it too. It can go on as a light grey, charcoal grey or jet black. And it has the prettiest silver sparkle!

Here is my complete MAC purchase with the pigments and blackground:

And here is blackground on my arm with the pigments over the top:

Here are individual pics of the pigments. Boy are they beautiful!

Jardin Aires:

Rush Metal:

Museum Bronze:

Copperized:

Reflects Gold Glitter:

oh man these colors are so gorgeous! I still need to learn how to apply these pigments without getting a lot of fall out while applying it but I am sure with some practice I will become a pro. Here is the eye look I made with Jardin Aires on the inner 2/3 of my lid and Rush Metal on the outer 1/3 of my eyelid. I also threw some Everyday Minerals Movie Night shadow over Rush Metal to make it more wearable for the day time:

I have tons more MAC products to review. Also I am getting some Silk Naturals lippies in the mail soon and will review those along with the eyeshadow colors that I have. I need to be more consistent and will be! Famous last words right. ;)Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-44120584352008651702009-07-16T19:08:00.000-07:002009-07-16T19:18:44.965-07:00The Big 3-0!So I turned 30 on June 13th and what a fun day that was. I don't feel any different except that I have a 3 now at the front of my age, and I can officially complain when twenty somethings say they feel old. Oh and when I don't want to do something I tell my fiance I am old now, I can't do that. ;)

But it was such a fun day. My fiance Steve totally spoiled me and it was so nice. He got me some gag gifts of course (depends, reading glasses and a wheelchair cookie cake) but then I got some really nice gifts as well. Let's start with the gag gifts.

Wheelchair cookie cake:

Reading Glasses:

Now I actually got real glasses, I had been coveting and stalking them for a year or so. Coach Lisbeth's in black...Ta-Da!

I received a bunch of gift cards (MAC, sephora, Kohl's) and got some nice stuff. I also ordered myself a nice Urban Decay Shadow box which I LOVE!

Urban Decay Goddess is in the above set, bottom left corner, and it is my most favorite liner ever! Gorgeous deep blue, really makes my brown eyes pop. Mayhem is gorgeous as a liner as well, heck the whole box is amazing. Totally a must get and limited edition so get it while you can!

My MAC Purchase. I got MAC Mocha Blush on the left, Gorgeous Gold on the right and then later I got the MAC Fix + which deserves a whole 'nother post itself.

Boy do I love Mocha. It is such a beautiful pink color. gorgeous gold is totally playful. the only thing I have a problem wish is the shadow fades even with a primer, so I have to reapply it halfway through the day. But it is a fun color.

Eco-Tools brushes. The mineral set and the retractable brush. Eco-Tools has some great brushes, if you haven't tried them you should!

My fiance took me to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner. Boy do I love their food. My fiance totally rocks though, he made my day so much better, I felt like turning 30 would be dramatic but I guess it was all in my head. I feel no different really.

And my pics always get cut off, I am just not resizing everything so please disregard. :)Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-58582168962200125372009-07-15T15:23:00.000-07:002009-07-15T15:34:52.604-07:00Back in the Saddle!Well, it has been a long time since I have written on this blog. A ton has happened in my life, some not so good and so I got discouraged from writing. But now I need to get back to writing and writing about what makes me happy.

So what have I been doing? Well working. Work has been difficult and strenuous. But I workout daily to combat that stress. Working out, really helps me to get past all of the stress in my life. I'm pretty sure I have suffered from some depression when it comes to some of the not so good things in my life right now, but I am past that with some positive thinking, lots of visits to a doctor to see if something was physically wrong with me (thankfully there isn't!) and just looking back at my last few months. I will have another post on what I think it wrong with me physically down the road.

I am still wearing Everyday Minerals daily, loving it, addicted fully and I just love making new looks. I spend 20 minutes a day all to myself, making myself beautiful and boy do I love it. It is almost like my meditation! So what new products do I have? I will post some pics:

Wet Sand, Soft Bronzer, New Car Smell, Swimming Pool:

New Car Smell, Swimming Pool, Snuggle and a sample of New Shoes:

Lavender Pressed and Golden Medium Pressed:

Oh how I love Lavender Pressed! I have more confidence when I wear it and you cannot put a price on that!Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-62605476446764741562009-04-05T08:44:00.001-07:002009-04-05T08:54:24.407-07:00Swatches of the new SandCastle KitI got my Sandcastle kit by Everyday Minerals yesterday and some other sample colors and two free lippies in good colors. YAY!

Here you can see a pic of the four colors in the left corner and the lippies in Coffee Shop and Spring Berries along with the free eyeshadow brush that comes with the kit:

Here are the swatches for the four colors. I really can't remember a day where my skin hasn't been a stress to me. Looking in the mirror first thing in the morning to see what new has popped up has been a daily ritual for about 17 years now...way too long if you ask me. About 7 years ago I went on Proactiv and can't say enough about it. It worked great for me for about 5 years and while I still had some acne, it was nothing like I had before I started using it. Then about 2 years ago I noticed it stopped really working for me, I was getting large cystic acne over and over and over again. So I started looking again and got the ever familiar feeling of buying tons of products to find out what works for me, only to be disappointed by each one. I decided since ProActiv was based off of Benzoyle Peroxide (BP), I would get something with Sacyilic Acid (SA) since my skin seemed to be used to the BP. I tried the Nuetrogena Acne Stress Control line and it worked ok, I don't think it had enough SA in it. I used that for about 8 months before I found Natures Gate Natural Results Acne System. This has worked really well for me, but can dry my skin out and is a bit expensive. It lasts about 3 months and is $30 plus tax a pop or if you order online $30 + shipping. Still cheaper then ProActiv and worked better for me, but I really want something more natural for my skin.

Now I have noticed over the last year my skin has started to dry out and the fine lines and wrinkles are popping up, mostly under my eyes but still scary. So I don't think I need such harsh products anymore but sm terrified to use something that doesn't control acne. I don't think it will matter how old I am, because of my struggles with acne I will always be worried about what I will wake up to. So lots of reading on the Everyday Minerals forum have convinced me that I can have nice skin with natural products, I only hope it is true. So here is where my travels have taken me, step by step:

1. It was recommended to me to try the GOW Tea Tree Oil cleanser. I bought the smaller size to try it out and am I glad that I did. It dries my face out so badly but so far no new acne since using it. I am going to use this up but am on the lookout for a better cleanser that won't strip my face. See item #4 below.

2. The GOW Pineapple Hydrating Mist was recommended as a toner and I totally love this stuff. It smells delicious and doesn't dehydrate my skin. The pineapple is supposed to help with acne.

3. A mixture of Aloe, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E Oil and Tea Tree Oil (TTO) was recommended for a moisturizer and so far I am having little luck with this mix. It is drying me out badly so I need to add more oil and less TTO next time around. What was recommended was 1/2 oz Aloe, 8 drops of Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E oil and TTO into the mix, use after washing your face. What I have been doing since my face is so dry afterwards is wetting my face down and applying two drops of jojoba oil in and then wetting my hands again and going over my face to make sure it sinks in. This has been decent but my face tends to dry out after while.

4. Because I don't like how dry my face has been lately I went out and got some Alba Botanica products yesterday. I had $6 off at CVS (thank you Extra Care card!) and so I went and purchased the Alba Pineapple Enzyme Facial Cleanser, the Hibiscus Toner and the Coconut Face Wash just to try them out and see how my skin likes them. I tried the Coconut Milk facewash as a makeup remover last night and followed it with the TTO face wash and the regular routine and my skin was dry. So this morning I tried the Coconut Milk facewash, followed by the GOW Pineapple Hydrating mist and my skin was so nice! I decided to try the TTO/Aloe mix and instanlty my face dried out, so I have the culprit for sure.

I have read that acne is caused by your PH balance being off, so I am wondering if I should start cleansing with the Coconut Milk cleanser in the morning and follow it with the Pineapple Hydrating mist and then spot treat with the TTO blemish stick that I have. This will cut out the dryness but I just hope I don't break out like crazy! I will keep you all posted on my results as I continue on my journey. :)Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-24146176330666771732009-04-02T19:44:00.000-07:002009-04-02T19:52:09.936-07:00Every link you need to have for Everyday MineralsHere is every link that you will need for Everyday minerals:

The Website:
https://www.everydayminerals.com/

Swatch and product pictures so you can figure out what you want to try:
Product Pics
Skin Swatches
The password for both of these is minerals
Forum Swatches

Everyday Minerals will run specials a couple of times a month. Here is a good website on the wonders of ACV:
http://www.apple-cider-vinegar-benefits.com/index.html
If you click on all the different sections on the left hand side of the page, you can read up on how ACV can be used.

On Monday I started taking it 3 times a day, a tsp each time so it equals a TBSP. I personally cannot drink this in a cup of water like this website recommends without gagging, but putting some water in my mouth and then putting a tsp of ACV and swallowing follwed up by a water chaser gets it down fast and with little stinging. The taste has grown on me though and now I don't even need to plug my nose while taking it.

If you do want to try it in a cup of water, you can throw in some honey but since that isn't really vegan I threw in some Agave Nectar to sweeten it up. It was rough for me to get down but I think ater a few more weeks I will be totally used to the taste and be able to do this.

So why am I doing this? First I want to do a natural and very light detox. Second, I suffer from IBS and while I have that under control with proper diet and exercise and stress relief techniques, I find my digestion still isn't up to par and I have often wondered if I suffered from Candida. Taking ACV will help to remove the bad bacteria from your intestines which causes Candida and I plan on replacing the bad with probiotics to increase the good bacteria in my intestines and stomach. So for this week I am strictly taking the ACV and then next week I will start taking probiotics during the day to help increase the good bacteria in my system.

So what have I noticed so far while taking the ACV? Quite a few things:
1. I am always warm where as I used to be cold all of the time. I don't think I like this but I think the ACV is speeding up my metabolism and maybe my circulation? Not sure.
2. I go to the bathroom a lot more frequently and I am not talking about #1. Twice a day seems to be the norm since I started this.
3. My digestion is so much better! My food properly digests, I have way less gas then I used to have and I feel hungry as opposed to the typical way I used to feel: possibly hungry or is that an upset stomach?
4. I have a little more energy despite my insomnia issues. I am not sleeping the best yet I feel better during the day.

That is it so far and it has only been 4 whole days. I am very excited to see what ACV has in store for me down the road.

And I also got my fiance hooked on it as well. He hates the taste but wants more regularity in his life. So far so good for him!Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-41566267217253676442009-04-01T17:39:00.002-07:002009-04-01T19:52:09.892-07:00My Little MonstersOk, cats absolutely amaze me. They all have unique personalities and are so different! They are so funny and so strange and they make my life so much richer. I wanted to post some pics of my little monsters that I love and adore.

First off I have to give a little spot to my first boy Tigger. He is my little son who passed away last June. He actually passed away the day before my birthday and it was the worst birthday of my life. He passed away from cancer, it was the hardest thing I have had to go through in a long time. It started one morning where he couldn't stand. He was stumbling around the bathroom. I rushed him to the vet. they gave him fluids because he was dehydrated and I brought him back home thinking all would be ok. He spent the day throwing up and hiding behind my couch. I ended up rushing him to an emergency vet over night where he ended up spending the last week of his life. After numerous tests and mess ups he finally had to be put down on June 12, 2008.

He lived a long and healthy life. I got him when he was about 1. My neighbors next door were getting rid of him and asked me if I would take him. I got him when my parents were getting divorced so I was incredibly happy to get a little friend at my Dad's apartment. I went and got him without even knowing what he looked like and since that day we were best friends. he was my shadow, my little mischevious Tiger. We had the best 13 years together and I will never forget him!I love you so much and miss you so much Tigger:

Next is the hairy beast that doesn't believe she is a cat a.k.a. Panza! Panza is a beautiful long haired Tuxedo patterned cat. She is 10 years old, is totally convinced she is a princess that requires plenty of pampering, but she is also a total schizo. Since I moved in with Steve she has improved tremendously!

here is the newest addition to our family, little Gizmo!

She is going to be 2 in July and she is the sweetest kitty with a feisty streak. I think it is the orange in her that causes the fiest since Tigger was orange and had such feist in him! Gizmo does have her own 4 story play toy, she requires one if we don't want to come home to broken items around the house. She runs laps around the couch and house. She is totally crazy but such a sweetie at the same time. She will grow up to be the lap cat I always wanted.

Those are the little monsters of my house. :)Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-75272059511349817782009-04-01T17:39:00.001-07:002009-04-01T17:39:18.977-07:00Oh the wonders of Jojoba oil!Ever since August of 2008, my skin has been funky. Incredibly dry, allergic reactions to products I could use before August and dermatitis over and over again. My arms, my neck and my legs will break out into angry red rashes if I use certain products, but what is really strange is my back, stomach and chest area will not, as well as my face. I just don't get it. I have been to the dermatologist at least 4 times and I went through patch testing and came out of that with an allergy to certain fragrance mixes and something they use at construction sites and also with dermatitis and possibly eczema. Strange. Anyway, since then I have been struggling to find products that work for my body. I find I can't really scrub my skin anymore so I had to toss my shower scrubbers. Then out went most of my lotions and even my sunscreens were causing allergic reactions!

So my challenge was to get off of the expensive $50 pre-mixed lotion that my dermatologist was making me use. It had cortizone mixed in with a heavy cream and works wonders, but $50 is extreme. On a trip to Michigan to visit my family in December, my mom had Aveeno Daily Moisturiszer. I decided to give it a whirl and didn't break out! YAY! Right after that trip I went to Sams Club and bought 10lbs of it. But it isn't vegan so I had more research to do.

A few months and after some more research and listening to some ladies on the Everyday Minerals forum I decided to try jojoba oil. I mix it in with my Aveeno right now to use it up, but eventually want to switch to purely jojoba oil for my moisturizer. What I do right now is pump the lotion into my hand about 7 times, mix about 10-15 drops of jojoba oil into it and use it all over my body. My skin feels so nice and soft now and I haven't had an allergic reaction to it.

I recomment this oil because it is vegan and organic: http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=3579

Now you can also use this on your face. I put two drops in with my face moisturizer and use it that way. But I have recently started switching to an all natural face routine which I will save for another post and after I wash my face, tone it and put on the moisturizer mix (which has jojoba oil in it) if my face is still dry I wet my hands, put two drops on my finger tips and rub it into my face. Then I wet my hands again and rub them over my face and neck to get the oil to absorb. I recommend always applying jojoba oil with water or a moist face so the oil is absorbed. If you do not your face will be all slick and the oil will not absorb properly. Shiny face isn't really attractive no matter what anyone tells you!

Here are other uses for jojoba oil that I found interesting: http://beauty-treatments.suite101.com/article.cfm/uses_of_jojoba_oil

I will definitely be trying it as a eye make up remover, a cuticle moisturizer and a lip conditioner. My lips are so darn dry but that is a whole other post in itself!

Oh and one last thing, I have acne prone dry skin. Jojoba oil doesn't make me break out but can cause break outs initally. If you experience breakouts while using it, I strongly suggest you take a look at how you are applying it. Water is key to making it absorb properly.Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-22907873371615899772009-03-31T20:14:00.000-07:002009-03-31T20:15:14.241-07:00Victoria Secret new vegan linehttp://living.peta.org/2009/new-victorias-secret-vegan-body-care-line

“Think Green. Here is the confirmed safe list:
Confirmed safe:
All Smiles
Raw Sugar
Waffle Cone
Back to School
Moving Day
Snuggle
Walkee Talkee
Opening Day
Sandy Bottom
Mojave Camping
Pink Ribbon
Chit Chat
Theme Park
New Shoes
DVR Saturday
Homework (this one is up for debate, for most people it's safe, but there has been one instance of someone's jar saying it may contain ultramarines)
Raspberry Sherbet
Shortcake
Wake Up Call

here are some that I made. I took empty sample foundation jars and used this Cover Girl lip gloss in clear radiance: http://www.covergirl.com/products/product.jsp?productId=wetslicks_lipgloss Warning this is not Vegan, Cover Girl tests on animals but you can use any clear gloss you want. If you do use this lip gloss you need to rip out the rubber stopper on the top of the bottle in order to get the gloss to pour out. Kind of a pain in the butt.

Anyway, I poured about 1/5 of the bottle into 3 empty containers and mixed a tiny bit of a blush with each one:

DVR Saturday Gloss:

On my lips:

Raw Sugar:

Wake Up Call:

They all give just a hint of color but lots of shine. Make sure if you make blushes into lip glosses that they are on the above safe list. Any EM product that says contains ultramarines is not safe to use on your lips so beware!Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3567853162572494818.post-63293006331687160762009-03-31T19:42:00.000-07:002009-03-31T19:49:35.105-07:00Early Eyeshadow looks by Everyday MineralsHere is an early look that I made before I became more experienced with makeup tricks and techniques. This is simply Snowflakes eyeshadow by Everyday Minerals:

It is such a beautiful purple color. Being a brunette with brown eyes, I find browns, purples, blues and greens look good on me.

Snowflakes again but an all over face look. I was using Golden Winged butter foundation which isn't my actual foundation color and was too yellow on me. With this look I am wearing Wake Up Call blush which is the most beautiful red color, gives me the perfect winter flush! But it has been discontinued unfortunately.

This is another older look I made using Smokey to line my upper lash line, Sunset Voyage as a base, To Do List inner corner, Thank You in crease and on lid:

Thank you is another discontinued color that is an absolutely beautiful red color. I have never blogged before but think it will be fun to blog about vegetarian/vegan finds, recipes and makeup. I am also transitioning to using all vegan bath and body products and further I am transitioning to all natural in an effort to save money and keep my skin nice and healthy and young looking as I get older. In a few months I am turning 30, and the fine lines are popping up under my eyes...so me going all natural and treating myself to that has something to do with these lines that are showing up.

I have been a vegetarian coming up on 10 years now. I went veggie because I love animals and cannot harm them. I have been vegan on and off. My biggest problem is boredom with food after awhile on a vegan diet. But I eat about 90-95% vegan and use everything vegan that iI can both around the house and in my bathroom.

I have two cats, Gizmo is going to be 2 in July and Panza is 10. I will post pics of them in the blog I am sure, so you will all get to know them. They are my babies!

I am completely addicted to Everysay minerals makeup. www.everydayminerals.com. Completely vegan line and all natural too, I highly recommend them. For an idea of my obsession, check these pics of my caboodle and my drawer set filled with makeup:

My Caboodle before I switched over to a plastic drawer set:

The top drawer of my new drawer set:

The middle drawer which contains all of my wedding day makeup:

the bottom drawer whcih houses empty containers, misc makeup and my nail polishes:

You can get this plastic drawer set for $12 at target. Highly recommended. The Caboodle is also a target special and can be purchased for $25.

I will be posting a lot of my looks on this blog, probably a daily look. I will also post pics of the makeup colors whether it is in the jars or swatched on my arms.

I am going to be reviewing other makeup companies as well, I have some MAC makeup and recently ordered through E.L.F. which is supposedly all vegan but there is honey extract in a lotion. Not vegan! http://www.eyeslipsface.com/home

I am also an fitness buff. I workout 5-6 days a week, I eat healthy and I am always looking for all natural supplements or products to make me healthier. I tend to get sick a lot, I have a weak immune system so I look for anything I can do to help that out.

I deal with insomnia and anxiety. I will be posting what has worked for me with that.Veggie Chickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09074841382415757783noreply@blogger.com0
